Protea is now offering the LightSheer® Duet, Flinch-Free Laser Hair Removal. Now you can eliminate unwanted hair comfortably and in much less time. Our new Light Sheer DUET laser brings the hair follicle closer to the treatment head with new vacuum assist technology. The benefits are significant and include: up to 75% faster treatment time, no topical anesthetic cream, cooling gels or cooling devices needed, virtually painless with no downtime, safer than traditional laser hair removal systems. It’s great for large treatment areas, especially the stomach, arms, back, shoulders and neck for men.

There are many paths to a hair-free body, but none with effects as lasting as laser hair removal. Anyone who has been shaving, waxing, or threading for very long can see the perks of this particular method. Shaving is quick and painless (barring the occasionally nick), but leaves unattractive stubble in less than a day. Waxing can be uncomfortable and expensive, if you consider the cost over time. Laser hair removal provides an alternative for those seeking longer-lasting results. Thinking about trying it for yourself? Read on to learn more about the process.

In order for laser hair removal to be truly effective, it has to be performed in a series. This is because hair grows in a staggered pattern, referred to as the Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen phases. Basically, some hairs are actively growing in, others are falling out (or in the process of falling out), and others are grown in and sitting in the follicle. This process shifts every 2 to 4 months, which is why one treatment won’t get rid of all of the hairs.

Most hair removal lasers work best on light skin with darker hair. However, the technology keeps getting more sophisticated, and today it is possible to treat darker hair on darker skin types. This also applies to fair-skinned persons with light hair. It is the contrast that is necessary for the laser to target correctly. If you have darker skin, or fair skin and light hair, it is important to ask if the facility has the right laser for your specific skin tone and hair color.
