7 Brain and Body Boosting Benefits of Exercising on the Beach | The Inertia

What if I told you about a new pill that hit the market and can do all of these things: weight loss, decreased stress, improves blood pressure and blood sugar control, reduces risk of heart disease, improves mood and sex life, prevents dementia, improves muscle and bone health, AND reduces risk of getting cancer? That would sound crazy, right? Well, luckily for you this product is already out, and you can get it for free. What is this magical, wonderful product? Exercise!

Movement is the key to life. It is what we all are designed to do. We’re hungry; we move to get food. We’re thirsty; we move to get water. We need to be somewhere; we move to relocate. It is programmed into our innate beings. It is literally one of the first things we learn to do, yet somehow this is something that most of us don’t really do anymore. Why?

With the advancements in technology and the Westernized world spreading throughout the globe, we as humans have overall become more and more sedentary, or basically just move less and less. With this new trend becoming the new normal, so have negative side effects like the ones listed above. The solution to this issue? Go back to the basics, and move!

But how should I start to move, you might ask? You can start by putting one foot in front of the other. Walking is an excellent way to get the body moving and propel yourself in the forward direction of whatever part you’re looking to improve. Fun fact: walking helps to lose weight. Did you know that just 7,000 steps per day can promote healthy weight loss.

I know this sounds like a lot, but if you were to track these steps you’d be surprised how many of you are already hitting this goal naturally.

Now imagine taking this movement to the next step. Ten minutes of slight activity a day is all you need to progress your goals even further. In the generation we live in, there are so many resources online we can utilize to start exercising more vigorously. This can include ten minutes of yoga, Pilates, strength training, biking, hiking, jumping on a trampoline, going up and down your stairs, cleaning, gardening, playing with your dogs. There are so many ways to get the body moving and progress toward bettering your health.

You’re in the drivers seat of your body. You can move it anywhere! But, just like a car, if it sits for too long without being used, that’s where problems start. You can prevent them before they begin. Put that body in gear and think of how you can best move for your lifestyle.
